KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vital contributor to our Building Engineering division, your responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Drafting engineering service proposals for senior evaluation;
  • Conducting site inspections and assessments for diverse construction initiatives;
  • Collaborating with clients, governmental agencies, and contractors;
  • Directing engineering design efforts and overseeing project teams, timelines, and budgets across various assignments;
  • Offering technical guidance and conducting peer reviews for junior engineers;
  • Designing and certifying medium to complex structural designs;
  • Creating specifications and drawings necessary for building permits and tender submissions;
  • Serving as a technical advisor for clients throughout the duration of projects;
  • Supervising and delivering construction review services;
  • Compiling technical specifications and comprehensive reports;
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes;
  • Adhering to all Health & Safety regulations and protocols;
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree in Structural Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering design;
  • Familiarity with residential light timber design is advantageous;
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario, in good standing, or the ability to achieve this within 6 months;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Quebec is a plus;
  • Knowledge of Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian design standards;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit;
  • Experience with structural finite element design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, Woodworks, etc.;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Ability to communicate in French is an asset;
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, time management, and organizational skills;
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team;
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with proper registration and insurance.
