Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Product Safety Engineer within our Industrial Group at CSA Group. This role involves conducting certifications and understanding testing methodologies for various Industrial Control Devices in accordance with Canadian and US standards. Key responsibilities include project management, report writing, and effective communication with clients. Regular updates and status reports will be provided to the immediate Manager, Product Group Manager, and, when necessary, to Certifiers and Laboratory Technicians.

Responsibilities:

Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean work environment while utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. As a Level I Certifier, you will be assigned projects of limited complexity, gradually increasing in difficulty as you gain experience. Employ various standard engineering techniques and operational procedures to address client inquiries and problems. Analyze technical issues to accurately interpret the relevant technical requirements within your area of responsibility. Collaborate with a mentor until fully qualified, ensuring timely completion of projects. Prepare work orders for testing programs, working alongside Lab Staff and Mentors to identify applicable tests. Draft certification reports, Certificates of Compliance, and other necessary CSA documentation. All projects and assignments will undergo review by qualified certifiers for accuracy and adherence to quality standards. Seek technical guidance from qualified staff and assigned mentors as needed. Progress through the CSA Group training system, including online training and mentorship in your designated product/standard area. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines effectively. Maintain clear and effective communication with clients. Willingness to travel as required (North America, Europe).

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years of relevant industry experience, or Certified Engineering Technologist/Technician or Licensed Tradesperson with 3-5 years of industry experience. Familiarity with industrial control equipment standards (CSA C22.2 no.14, CSA B44.1/ASME A17.5) and the Canadian Electrical Code Part I is preferred. Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including operational principles and calibration procedures, as well as general laboratory practices. Additional expertise may be required based on the specific needs of the business unit.
