Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Department Manager to oversee the daily operations of our grocery department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, sales, and store management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Excellence: Manage the daily store operations through effective merchandising, ordering, inventory, and waste management.
  2. Leadership and Supervision: Be responsible for supervising the opening and closing of the store, overseeing the activity and performance of floor staff, and training and developing department associates in customer service, product knowledge, and merchandising.
  3. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and support a friendly shopping experience.
  4. Team Development: Assist in the development of the grocery team by supporting the training and coaching of all employees.
  5. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely replenishment.
  6. Department Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and employees.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum 3 years of grocery experience with Loblaw's stores.
  2. Minimum Grade 12 Education.
  3. Excellent organizational skills with a clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
  4. Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills while communicating with customers and team members.
  5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with excellent communication to motivate and develop associates.
  6. Ability to learn manual and automated systems and tools.
  7. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Must have strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  9. Knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
  10. Food Safe and First Aid Certification are considered assets.
  11. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  12. Must be available to work anytime (Days, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays).
