About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at the Government of Alberta. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our senior leadership and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal research and analysis to inform business decisions and policy development
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to achieve organizational objectives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks
  • Advise on contract negotiations and dispute resolution
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and case law
Requirements
  • LLB or JD degree and a minimum of 4 years of directly related legal experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Laws degree (LLM)
  • Law journal and other legal writing experience
  • Supervisory work experience
  • Written and oral communication skills in French
