Job Summary:
The Animal Care Attendant is a key member of our team at West Edmonton Mall, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our marine life animals. This role requires a passion for animal care and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist our Marine Life staff with animal care and husbandry tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining animal habitats.
- Prepare and present animal shows and presentations to our guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns from our guests.
- Assist with animal training and enrichment programs, ensuring the animals receive the best possible care.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of our animal exhibits and facilities.
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including cleaning and repairing equipment and facilities.
- Assist with animal feeding and nutrition programs, ensuring the animals receive a balanced and nutritious diet.
- Supervise the touch pools and answer guest questions during Sea Life Caverns operations.
- Perform other duties as required to support the success of our marine life program.
Requirements:
- Possess a keen interest in aquatic life and a passion for animal care.
- Experience working with reptiles, fish, and other amphibians is an asset.
- Degree or relevant biological field or previous experience in an animal-related field is an asset.
- Experience with public speaking and performing is an asset.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, and a team player with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position requiring flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess a Class 5 driver's license and be able to provide a clean 3-year driver's abstract.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
