About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Concurrent Disorder Therapist to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality therapeutic services to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized therapeutic counselling services, including crisis intervention and stabilization, in alignment with evidence-based practice.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, focusing on psycho-education, social skills training, and relapse prevention.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, working closely with clients to set goals and measure progress.
  • Collaborate with inter-professional teams and BC Corrections staff to identify clients for interventions and prepare discharge planning information.
  • Act as an advocate for clients during inter-professional team meetings, completing relevant forms and gathering information from substance use and mental health resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in an allied health discipline (counselling and/or social work) from an approved and accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Three (3) years' of recent related clinical experience, including at least one (1) year's experience in a concurrent disorder, substance use or mental health program providing therapeutic individual and group counselling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of substance dependence and concurrent disorder.
  • Broad knowledge of psychopharmacology, trauma-informed practice, and chronic disease management.
  • Demonstrated skill in motivational interviewing/therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous reconciliation.
