About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Concurrent Disorder Therapist to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our team, you will provide individualized therapeutic counselling services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed individualized therapeutic counselling services, including crisis intervention and stabilization, in alignment with evidence-based practice.
  • Facilitate psycho-education and process-oriented group therapy, promoting social skills development, behavioral modeling, and relapse prevention.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, working collaboratively with clients and inter-professional teams.
  • Perform enrollment to programs according to established protocols, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Act as an advocate for clients during inter-professional team meetings, promoting their needs and interests.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in an allied health discipline (counselling and/or social work) from an approved and accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Three (3) years' of recent related clinical experience, including at least one (1) year's experience in a concurrent disorder, substance use, or mental health program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of substance dependence and concurrent disorder, as well as psychopharmacology, trauma-informed practice, and chronic disease management.
  • Demonstrated skill in motivational interviewing/therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
