We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team at School District #37 (Delta). As a member of our Inclusive Learning department, you will play a vital role in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will use a strength-based and trauma-informed approach to support students in the classroom environment, providing access to specialized equipment and individualized instruction in areas such as social skill development, listening skills, and communication skills. You will also act as a case manager, developing and implementing education plans, and coordinating specialized services for students and families.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement education plans
  • Act as a case manager, coordinating specialized services for students and families
  • Use a universal design framework to enable student access to curriculum learning in the classroom environment
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Master's in the area of Inclusive Education with a specialization in the education of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Successful elementary or secondary level teaching experience
  • Experience using a strength-based approach and a UDL framework to enable student access to curriculum learning in the classroom environment
  • Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans
