Position: Junior Power Systems Engineer

Role Summary: This role involves supporting the Shift Engineer in the management and upkeep of various essential systems:

  1. Steam Generation
  2. Refrigeration Systems
  3. Compressed Air Systems
  4. Plant Water Management
  5. Domestic Water Supply
  6. Fire Safety Systems
  7. Natural Gas Operations

The individual in this position is expected to be proficient in supporting these systems and capable of executing mechanical repairs as directed by the Shift Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  2. Understand and adhere to safety, quality, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
  3. Maintain confidentiality regarding operational matters.
  4. Ensure the safe execution of tasks.
  5. Conduct oneself in a professional and safe manner.
  6. Assist in isolating equipment for maintenance and repairs.
  7. Contribute to the development of energy control protocols and safe working practices.
  8. Participate in safety assessments and training programs focused on hazard identification and risk management.
  9. Attend safety meetings and share relevant safety information with colleagues.
  10. Complete necessary training to perform duties safely.
  11. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Roquette's safety expectations.
  12. Monitor the Air Compressor, Air Dryer, and Air Intake Systems for the Utilities Department.
  13. Efficiently maintain and operate the Refrigeration system in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  14. Assist in the issuance of Confined Space Entry Permits and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTTO) procedures as necessary.
  15. Fulfill assigned roles during emergency plant evacuations.
Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a valid Class 3 Power Engineer license, with progression towards Class 2.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  3. Experience in managing large utility facilities, including power distribution, steam generation, vacuum systems, and fire protection systems.
  4. Strong troubleshooting skills are essential.
  5. Control room experience is required for monitoring complex processes and coordinating critical operations.
  6. Maintenance experience is necessary to prioritize asset upkeep for plant reliability.
  7. Flexibility to cover shifts as required by business needs.
  8. Ability to work in challenging conditions, including extreme temperatures and noise.
  9. Capability to navigate stairs, ladders, and confined spaces.
  10. Proficiency in using personal protective equipment, including respirators and safety harnesses.
