Position Overview:
In the role of Director of Construction Operations, you will establish corporate objectives, supervise construction initiatives, and coordinate activities while ensuring optimal resource use and adherence to safety protocols. You will formulate policies, manage financial plans, and nurture client relationships to propel organizational achievement. This position entails significant travel to construction sites across Canada and the United States, with potential for international travel based on organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Define clear objectives for the organization.
2. Develop or endorse policies and programs that align with corporate goals.
3. Authorize and organize the creation of major departments and senior staff roles.
4. Allocate material, human, and financial resources to effectively implement corporate policies and programs.
5. Establish financial and administrative controls to ensure efficient resource management.
6. Approve comprehensive personnel planning strategies to secure the right talent for achieving corporate objectives.
7. Select middle managers or other executive staff who resonate with corporate values and goals.

9. Represent the organization in official functions, negotiations, or significant meetings.
10. Delegate representatives when necessary to act on behalf of the organization in such functions.
11. Oversee the planning and execution of construction projects across various sectors, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and client expectations.
12. Monitor project progress to guarantee timely completion and adherence to quality benchmarks.
13. Implement effective project management methodologies to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
14. Optimize resource utilization to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
15. Develop project budgets and track expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
16. Enforce cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within budgetary limits.
17. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards across all projects.
18. Cultivate positive relationships with clients by delivering exceptional service, addressing concerns, and ensuring project outcomes meet their expectations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including production and project/construction management.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a middle manager in construction or project management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Proven experience overseeing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrated capability to set clear objectives and manage multiple departments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial construction practices.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
- Ability to implement effective project management methodologies and optimize resource utilization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mitigate risks.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and manage subcontractors and vendors.
