Job Summary

CIMT College is seeking a qualified individual to teach the PSW (Personal Support Worker) program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will be required to adhere to CIMT College's policies and procedures.

The program is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field. Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual, which the Instructor is responsible for following and utilizing to train students.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field and its requirements.
  • Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials, ensuring a systematic and diverse approach to teaching.
  • Employ adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter effectively to diverse students.
  • Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress according to guidelines and procedures.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently, returning student marks promptly and providing feedback on performance.
  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Ensure classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of each class, without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources.
  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events, such as graduation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information.
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development.
  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to present information in a way that students will understand, as well as adapt to different learning styles.
  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model.
  • Online teaching skills (training provided, but computer skills are essential).
Qualifications
  • Have 48 months of work experience in the vocation OR
  • Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation OR
  • Have 24 months of work experience in the vocation AND

Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree, or be a graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent, or be a graduate of a registered PCC or equivalent.

Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Must be available to teach online/In campus as per the accepted schedule.
