Join our team at Oxford Learning Centres, Inc. as a part-time instructor-tutor. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with students and are dedicated to fostering their skills in mathematics and science.

As an instructor-tutor at Oxford Learning, you will benefit from pre-planned lessons, allowing you to focus on teaching rather than preparation. Comprehensive training in our unique educational philosophy and methods will be provided.

Position Requirements

All instructor-tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours, typically at least twice a week (3:00 PM - 8:00 PM) and some Saturdays (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM). A commitment through the academic term is preferred, with opportunities to continue during the summer. Reliability is essential, as your students will depend on your support.

This position requires in-person attendance, and candidates must be able to travel to the designated location. A vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you meet the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth-year university students with significant tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is a plus
  • Strong understanding of the current Grades 9-12 mathematics and science curriculum, especially in areas such as Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Vectors, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Experience:

  • Prior experience teaching or tutoring mathematics and science at the Grade 9 to 12 level
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong mathematical and scientific knowledge with the ability to enhance students' comprehension
  • Capability to manage multiple students simultaneously.

Responsibilities (Position Details)

As an Interactive Coach, you will engage directly with students and take on the following responsibilities:

  • Instructing up to three students at varying levels
  • Adhering to the methodologies and philosophies of Oxford Learning
  • Documenting post-lesson notes
  • Providing daily updates on student progress
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
