Join Our Building Science Team
Location: Peterborough, ON
Pinchin is looking for professionals with a solid understanding of architectural and engineering principles to become part of our Building Science team.
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of building systems, including architectural elements such as structural components, building enclosures, mechanical and electrical systems, roofing, interior features, and site characteristics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and capital planning in line with ASTM standards and best practices.
- Perform assessments of existing structures, including roof assemblies, exterior cladding, balconies, fenestrations, and parking garages to evaluate design and remedial options.
- Execute invasive assessments and testing, such as roof cut tests and water leak evaluations.
- Carry out precise quantity take-offs and measurements throughout project phases.
- Develop designs and specifications for restoration initiatives.
- Oversee construction reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and design specifications.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing field data findings and create comprehensive AutoCAD drawings.
- Engage in financial coordination related to projects.
- Uphold QA/QC protocols and health and safety standards within the team.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a degree in Architecture or Building Science.
- Experience with Building Condition Assessments per ASTM guidelines is essential.
- Familiarity with UniFormat and asset management software is advantageous.
- Background in building construction or maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and building envelope assemblies is a plus.
- Understanding of the Ontario Building Code is mandatory.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and reports is required.
- Experience in writing technical reports is desirable.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Capability to safely transport and handle equipment is necessary.
- Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and personal vehicle is required.
