Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing and Procurement
    • Study market reports, trade publications, and sales promotion materials to stay informed about market trends and supplier offerings.
    • Arrange product displays according to planograms to maximize sales and visual appeal.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of merchandise.
    • Maintain adequate stock levels to meet customer demand and minimize stockouts.
    • Negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements with suppliers to optimize purchasing costs.
  • Merchandise Management
    • Review requirements of our wholesale establishment and determine the quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
    • Select and purchase merchandise for resale, taking into account factors such as quality, price, and supplier reputation.
    • Supervise the work of other buyers to ensure that purchasing tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Market Analysis and Research
    • Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events to stay informed about new products and trends.
    • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for growth and improvement in our purchasing processes.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with suppliers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth purchasing processes.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that purchasing decisions align with company goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • College or CEGEP diploma in a relevant field, such as business or supply chain management.
    • 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a wholesale or retail environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data and make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
