Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC. As a key member of our patient care team, you will provide administrative support to our nursing staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and coordinate physicians' orders, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, relaying messages to staff and patients
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, maintaining accurate records
  • Assemble and maintain patient charts, inputting data into relevant systems
  • Perform various clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and report preparation
  • Maintain timekeeping records for staff and submit to payroll systems
  • Observe patient call signals and relay messages to staff
Requirements
  • Grade 12 education
  • Current typing test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months
  • Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
