Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C. This is a casual opportunity, working Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties related to patient/resident care, including prioritizing and processing physicians' orders, acting as a communication link for the unit, and scheduling appointments.
  • Assemble and maintain patient/resident charts, input data, and transcribe information into relevant systems.
  • Provide administrative support, including keyboarding, data entry, filing, and compiling statistics.
  • Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submit to payroll systems.
  • Observe patient/resident call signals and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution
  • A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
