A Crane and Hoist Technician is responsible for operating various lifting equipment on construction sites, including stationary and mobile cranes, hoists, lifts, and winches. This role requires a keen awareness of site conditions and potential hazards, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maneuver lifting equipment to position loads accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate movements and ensure safety.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify and address any issues.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as lubricating machinery and replacing worn components.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess one of the following certifications:
- Personnel Hoist and Construction Elevator Operator (PHCEO)
- Car Switch and Construction Use Elevator Operator (CSOCEO)
Additional requirements include:
- Proficient understanding of lifting equipment and their operations.
- Basic mathematical skills for load calculations.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, high visibility vests, and steel-toed boots; additional PPE such as safety glasses and masks is advantageous.
- Basic tool belt is preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety practices.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
