About the Role:

As an Autism Support Assistant at Kerry's Place Autism Services, you will play a vital role in providing services that maximize the health and safety and personal fulfillment of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing coaching and support in the areas of social skills, communication, and leisure activities.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, supports, and community members.
  • Administering medication as per procedure.
  • Following Behavioral and Crisis Protocols as documented.
Education and Experience Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University, or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or from a registered and Ministry-approved Private Career College.
  • Alternatively, completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 1 year of related experience (preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Knowledge Requirements:

You will possess:

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

This role requires:

  • The ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • The ability to complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, as well as perform the required physical techniques. Training will be provided at no cost.
  • A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle is required and proof of third-party liability insurance coverage.
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.
