About the Role:

As a Autism Support Assistant at Kerry's Place Autism Services, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to maximize their health and safety and personal fulfillment. Your responsibilities will include providing coaching and support in social skills, communication, and leisure activities, as well as administering medication and following Behavioral and Crisis Protocols. You will also develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports, and community members.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will require a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University, or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or a registered and Ministry approved Private Career College. Alternatively, you may have completed Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 1 year of related experience, preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will also need to have solid written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, and perform the required physical techniques. You will also need a valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2, and access to a reliable vehicle. As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.
