About the Role

Dawson College is seeking a highly skilled Pedagogical Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our academic support services, you will play a vital role in advising, leading, and providing information to teaching staff, executive staff, and other stakeholders on pedagogy, program development, and student learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and assist program committees and writing committees in the development and revision of programs, including assistance with competency interpretation, exit profile development, curriculum mapping, and program grid development.
  • Serve on program revision committees and liaise with other college services and managers as required.
  • Assist in the writing of program design and revision documents.
  • Advise and assist faculty in the implementation of new and revised programs.
  • Support the development of course design documents.
  • Advise and assist faculty in the evaluation of competency-based DEC and AEC programs.
  • Develop and refine documentation related to program revision and course design.
  • Prepare documents, templates, and guidelines for faculty use in curriculum design at the program and course level.
  • Participate in processes related to the development, revision, and evaluation of academic policies.
  • Animate discussions, organize, present, and lead workshops on competency-based education and curriculum.
  • Contribute to the organization and animation of professional development activities for faculty.
  • Provide support to activities and events organized by the Office of Academic Development and the College.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly in education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in a post-secondary educational institution, preferably at the College/Cégep level.
  • Experience in the design and coordination of program revision and/or course design.
  • Teaching experience at the college level, an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of competency-based education and the program approach.
  • Experience in curriculum development, preferably in a competency-based educational setting and working with faculty.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with various levels of staff and faculty.
  • Ability to work in teams and with groups.
  • Advanced oral and written English language skills.
  • Intermediate oral and written French language skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
