OVERVIEW: The Registered Behavior Technician plays a crucial role in delivering educational and behavioral support to individuals with special needs. This position involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral specialists to meet learning and behavioral objectives. The technician will assist in the application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapeutic techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to directives from the supervising BCBA, educators, and program managers.
- Implement behavior management strategies, including prevention, intervention, and consequence techniques.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
- Review and execute behavior intervention plans effectively.
- Implement behavioral goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Conduct ABA-specific therapeutic services under the guidance of a BCBA, including various training models.
- Support academic instruction as directed by teaching staff.
- Assist in the development of plans for speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
- Document sessions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Collect, analyze, and report behavioral and academic data accurately.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information.
- Assist students in developing independent living skills through self-care activities.
- Provide support to students in various environments, including classrooms and recreational areas.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or State Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Preferred: Two years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: One year of experience working with children.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- Health certification as required by regulations.
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations is essential.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.
- Proficiency in computer skills is required.
