Job Title: Healthcare and Professional Banking Specialist

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business growth in the healthcare and professional segment? We're seeking a skilled and experienced Healthcare and Professional Banking Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned healthcare and professional customers, including their business needs, financial position, and service requirements.
  • Provide expert financial advice and guidance to healthcare and professional customers, helping them achieve their business goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, COIs, and internal/external referral sources, identifying opportunities to drive business growth and revenue.
  • Respond to customer requests, providing timely and effective solutions to meet their needs and exceed their expectations.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers and Wealth Management Consultants to deliver a Total Solutions approach, ensuring customers receive comprehensive banking and financial services.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory requirements, applying this knowledge to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging multiple channels and networks to expand Scotiabank's presence in the healthcare and professional segment.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Scotiabank's products and services, including Small Business and Retail offerings, to provide customers with tailored solutions.
  • Manage an assigned credit portfolio, ensuring it is maintained at an acceptable level of risk and in compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Authorize, renew, or decline customer requests, ensuring all related documentation is properly maintained and thoroughly completed.
  • Contribute to the development of business and financial goals, working collaboratively with the team to achieve them.
  • Participate in team meetings, skill-building sessions, and one-on-one coaching to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to Bank and Branch security procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements, including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing, FCAD, Know Your Customer, CDIC, and Occupational Health & Safety.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business law, or economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven expertise in the healthcare and professional segment within designated marketplaces.
  • Expert knowledge of Small Business products and services, including ACE and GRM, Sales Builder, Intralink, and related internal software and technology platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable risk management policies and processes, and legal and security documentation for small business products.
  • Experience with interviewing, solicitation, marketing, and business development techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable branch procedures, processes, and workflows, small business legal structures, life cycles, and owner characteristics, and business financial statements within the healthcare and professional segments.
  • Working knowledge of Retail products and services, including Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, MD Financial, Enterprise Solutions, and competitor offerings.
  • Knowledge of economic conditions and political events affecting businesses, especially in the professional and healthcare segment.
  • Ability to build and maintain key relationships, influence and persuade others, tactical planning, implementation, and organization skills.
  • High degree of flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks and functions, including being mobile to the district to meet with customers and related COIs.
