Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Surface Mining Operations Manager to join our team at the Ekati Mine site. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient production of our surface mining operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a high-performing team of mining professionals;
- Assign work and supervise the performance of personnel working on the Surface Mining team;
- Implement effective safety, health, and environment management practices;
- Investigate accidents and incidents, and implement corrective actions;
- Meet budgeted mining targets and manage costs;
- Collaborate with Technical Services and Mobile Maintenance to execute the mining plan and maintenance schedule;
- Develop and implement departmental improvement projects;
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures;
- Work with the WENCO fleet monitoring and data collection system;
- Contribute to the development of the mining plan.
- Minimum 5 years open pit mining experience;
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience;
- Open pit shift boss certification;
- Surface mine rescue certification;
- Valid first-aid ticket;
- Excellent leadership and communication skills;
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships in a unionized environment.
