A Day in Your Life:- Provide guidance and leadership to production personnel, including direct oversight of senior supervisors and multiple production supervisors.
- Cultivate a positive labor relations environment by ensuring respectful treatment of all employees, addressing grievances promptly, and maintaining open lines of communication.
- Inspire employees to embody the core values of the organization.
- Take responsibility for production costs, labor efficiency, yield, operational outcomes, and cost-saving initiatives within your area.
- Monitor production inputs and outputs to minimize product loss while striving for an accident-free workplace.
- Communicate changes to Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP to ensure consistent product quality and a progressive food safety program.
- Advocate for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes by supporting Six Sigma methodologies, leading meetings, and spearheading specific projects aimed at optimizing production operations.
- Regularly interact with various managers and team members, including Quality Assurance, Health and Safety, Maintenance, Finance, Six Sigma, R&D, Distribution, and Human Resources, utilizing daily manufacturing reports to assess performance.
- Manage departmental operating costs, ensuring timely production of all orders without compromising quality or quantity.
- Assist the Plant Manager in developing a cohesive and competent management team, planning for effective succession by acquiring, developing, and motivating manufacturing personnel.
- Participate in evaluating and recommending capital improvements for equipment and plant facilities.
- Prepare annual operating budgets and standard costs for raw materials, direct labor, and plant overheads.
- A relevant post-secondary education, preferably a degree in Engineering, Food Science, or Business.
- Over 7 years of management experience in a unionized manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to effectively schedule employees and production shifts in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
- Strong financial analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Results-driven with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make sound judgments in daily business decisions.
- Prepared to step in for Production Supervisors as needed.
- Comfortable engaging with a diverse workforce and government regulators.
