Qualifications and Requirements

Island Health is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the role of Case Worker. To be successful in this position, you will require a baccalaureate degree in a mental health-related discipline, and eligibility for licensing or registration in a professional association related to mental health care. Additionally, you will need to have at least two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Key Skills and Abilities
  • **Clinical Expertise**: You will have a comprehensive understanding of affective disorders, schizophrenia and other serious psychiatric disorders, and their treatment using a biopsychosocial model of care.
  • **Outreach Case Management**: You will be able to work effectively in an outreach case management modality, providing support and services to clients in their communities.
  • **Teamwork**: You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the development and implementation of care plans.
  • **Community Engagement**: You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of community and facility contacts, including patients/clients, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
  • **Organizational Skills**: You will be able to prioritize tasks, manage your time effectively, and meet critical deadlines.
  • **Communication**: You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • **Driver's License**: You will possess a valid driver's license, with a good driving record.
