About the Role

Kunuwanimano Child & Family Services is seeking a skilled Child Protection Specialist to join our team. As a Child Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for providing fair, respectful, and culturally relevant services to First Nations children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops links with relevant communities to explore service options and strategies to address issues affecting First Nations children and families.
  • Provides a range of ongoing child protection services to children and their families of an assigned caseload.
  • Investigates and assesses allegations of child abuse and/or maltreatment.
  • Intervenes in crises situations, assesses risk to children and determines action.
  • Advocates on behalf of children and families for support services within the community.
  • Coordinates and facilitates customary care and society placements.

Requirements

  • BSW with previous child welfare experience within First Nations communities or 2 years of social service experience.
  • Completion of OACAS New Worker Training Modules preferred.
  • Valid "G" Ontario Driver's licence, willing to travel, and able to work flexible hours.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Ability to speak a native language considered a major asset.
