About This Role

As a System Architecture Specialist at CAE, you will play a pivotal role in defining the global architecture of training devices to align with the comprehensive integrated training solution requirements.

Working closely with a network of system engineering specialists and domain experts, you will be accountable for architecture definition, costing, and risk assessment across all program phases.

From the initial capture and proposal phase, you will aid the business development and proposal teams in crafting a strategic solution aimed at enhancing contract acquisition chances. After successfully securing a contract, you will further refine the solution, translate it into distinct engineering components, and lead the critical design review (CDR) of the complete architecture. Post-CDR, you will ensure adherence to the proposed technical solution, optimizing it to fulfill the customer's training needs without incurring scope changes or cost escalation.

The Role We're Offering You
  • Support business development and proposal team in defining training device architecture during bid phase.
  • Lead design activities and serve as the overall design authority throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize CAE technologies and OEM capability to design training devices that align with customer training requirements and CAE's business objectives. Analyze and interpret training and device requirements to define a compliant solution within schedule, scope, and cost constraints. Collect insights from diverse engineering groups and develop architectural drawings for training devices. Conduct trade studies to identify optimal solutions, including leveraging existing equipment, new designs, and third-party elements. Establish project software architecture and map it to physical components. Identify risk and cost-driving design issues, devising original solutions to mitigate risk while optimizing costs. Define the structure of the training system in alignment with Customer Training Requirements. Craft solutions by harnessing available capabilities and technology within the product catalogue.
  • Partake in and support solution and cost reviews throughout all design review stages.
  • Evaluate the system to ensure alignment with specified performance requirements and training outcomes, such as flight performance, stability, weight, power, timing, human factors, and throughput. Interface with architecture board to address any elements deemed non-standard solutions.
Our Ideal Candidate Must Have
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer, or Information Sciences.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the design and development of aerospace, simulation, and training systems.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering development processes.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems functionality, flight operation principles, and flight regulations.
  • Background in Software Architecture is highly desirable.
  • Business acumen – experience in Business Development/Sales support, proposals, and Execution.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in English. Additional fluency in French is advantageous.
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance with access to NATO confidential documents and compliance with ITAR requirements.
