- Monitor Department Performance: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and driver safety records.
- Plan and Organize Daily Operations: Develop and implement daily schedules, routes, and logistics plans to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Plan for Changes to Schedules and Policies: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement changes to transportation schedules and policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare Reports for Senior Management: Provide regular reports on transportation performance, highlighting areas of success and areas for improvement.
- Supervise Staff: Lead and manage a team of transportation staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
- Manage Finances or Budget: Oversee the transportation budget, ensuring that costs are controlled and that resources are allocated efficiently.
- Arrange for Shipping Documentation and the Tracking and Tracing of Goods in Transit: Coordinate with shipping companies and other stakeholders to ensure that all necessary documentation is in place and that goods are tracked and traced throughout the transportation process.
- Ensure Transport Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that all transportation operations are compliant with relevant regulations, including those related to safety, security, and environmental sustainability.
- Negotiate for Services and Preferential Rates: Develop and maintain relationships with shipping companies and other stakeholders to negotiate preferential rates and services.
- Oversee the Scheduling and Dispatching of Vehicles and Goods: Coordinate the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods, ensuring that they are delivered on time and in good condition.
- Oversee the Setting of Transportation Service Rates and Monitor Revenue: Develop and implement transportation service rates, monitoring revenue and adjusting rates as needed to ensure profitability.
- Organize and Maintain Inventory: Ensure that inventory is accurately tracked and maintained, including the management of stock levels, inventory turnover, and inventory costs.
- Record Cargo Information, Hours of Service, Distance Travelled and Fuel Consumption: Maintain accurate records of cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption, using this data to inform transportation decisions.
- Plan, Organize, Direct, Control and Evaluate Daily Operations: Develop and implement plans to ensure the effective and efficient operation of daily transportation activities, evaluating performance and making adjustments as needed.
- Supervision: 3-4 people
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
