PET Technologist Job Description
BC Cancer is seeking a skilled PET Technologist to join our team in Victoria, Vancouver, or Kelowna. As a PET Technologist, you will be responsible for performing clinical PET/CT scanning, preparing patients for scanning procedures, and presenting final image data sets to PET physicians for interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of clinical PET/CT scanning, including selecting imaging protocols, positioning patients, and presenting final image data sets.
- Prepare patients for scanning procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and obtaining informed consent.
- Correlate clinical history with examination to be performed, take and record baseline vital signs, establish venous access, and administer radiotracers.
- Monitor patient safety during procedures and respond to emergent situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Operate PET and associated CT computers and equipment as needed.
Requirements:
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- Three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Completion of formal PET/CT education, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or equivalent training and experience.
