Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of the Nuclear Medicine team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, special cell labeling, and quality control testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals for shipping
- Label cells using sterile techniques
- Instruct manufacturing and cell labeling techniques to staff
- Operate nuclear medicine laboratory equipment
- Perform routine quality control tests on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals
- Monitor radioactive storage areas using detection devices and dispose of radioactive substances and contaminated items according to established guidelines
Qualifications
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Two years of recent experience in radioisotope imaging and radiopharmacy dispensing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice of radiopharmacy dispensing and radiation safety practices
- Demonstrated ability to perform aseptic techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine laboratory equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP)
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiopharmacy equipment and computer applications
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
