Job Opportunity

Horizon School Division is seeking a skilled Computer Technician to join our team. As a Computer Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our school-based hardware and software systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve routine hardware, software, and network issues.
• Deploy and maintain IT allocations for schools in your service area, including over 3000 Chromebooks, iPads, Tablets, and traditional Windows-based PCs.
• Provide ongoing routine installation, maintenance, and support of division systems.
• Monitor and maintain school-based servers and networking equipment.
• Complete hardware repairs, including vendor-approved warranty repairs.
• Create and deploy operating system images for large-scale deployment of hardware and software packages using SCCM and Intune.
• Ensure equipment moves, replacements, and changes are authorized and completed according to specification.
• Assist in testing new software to ensure compatibility with existing systems before implementation.
• Assist in educating users regarding PC and network usage.
• Update operating systems and applications as necessary on all school-based hardware.
• Ensure the integrity and security of school data and the continuity of education, including ongoing maintenance of the local backup infrastructure.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a post-secondary education program related to information technology systems management.
• Vendor certifications from Google, Cisco, Palo Alto, and Microsoft are useful assets in this role.
• Experience providing direct end-user support towards resolution of IT-related issues.
• Experience with Google Workspace and Chromebooks.
• Experience with Cisco networking hardware, including SD-WAN technologies.
• Familiarity with design of effective IT controls.
• Minimum of two years' experience or a suitable combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of computer programming principles.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
