About the Role:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Vernon, BC. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our trucks and motorized equipment are up and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repairs of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks and associated heavy-duty equipment
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders, and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procuring parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certified or 4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Exert physical effort, including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, and climb
