About the Job:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team in Kamloops or Vernon, BC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mechanic to safely operate, repair, and maintain our company-owned equipment, including rolling stock. The successful candidate will ensure the equipment is in good working condition, allowing our teams to provide excellent waste removal and environmental services to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including off-loaders, skid-steers, and forklifts.
  • Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty equipment.
  • Complete reports, work orders, and order parts as needed.
  • Assist in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn software systems.
  • Meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.
