Key Responsibilities- Formulates and sustains strategic plans for the systems in use and documents preliminary designs for system improvements, integration, and development in collaboration with management and business specialists.
- Leads user work teams and external system maintenance/enhancement providers in ongoing system upkeep, enhancements, and development. Oversees the prioritization of the preventative maintenance schedule for current operational systems.
- Ensures that system controls are established, documented, and operational to uphold data integrity.
- Evaluates client needs and processes data to produce a variety of specialized reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Designs and executes training needs assessments for user departments. Develops training materials tailored for adult learners based on these assessments.
- Manages substantial projects effectively.
- Advises other system administrators on system interfaces and business requirements.
- Guarantees that user needs are fulfilled through the design and user acceptance testing of system modifications.
- Prepares input for and provides guidance on the creation of business cases. Conducts post-implementation reviews to verify that benefits are realized and reports findings with recommendations for enhancements.
- Delivers user training and support for both planned and existing systems.
- Mentors users in the effective and consistent utilization of operational systems.
- Conducts specialized studies related to operational systems, including research and analysis of information, and prepares reports with alternatives and recommendations.
- Participates in evaluating internal and external software packages to meet project requirements and makes recommendations regarding their applicability and viability.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external auditors and finance regarding operational systems policies and procedures.
- Performs minor related duties, including driving a vehicle, which do not affect the job rating.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary diploma in an appropriate computer technology, or an equivalent combination of relevant certifications.
- A minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with both internal and external clients, as well as organizational skills.
- Proficiency in managing multiple large-scale projects.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, presentation abilities, and experience in adult training delivery, including the capacity to share knowledge and skills with others.
- Advanced understanding of computer systems operations, environments, and peripherals. Proficient in applications software utilized at FortisBC and specialized software relevant to the department: SAP, SAP Business Warehouse, SAS, and Energy or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid British Columbia Driver's license.
- Capability to obtain a Passport for international travel.
