Job Summary
This posting will be used to fill a term position in the Community Health Programs branch, working 75 hours bi-weekly, with the possibility of extension. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar permanent and similar positions.
About the Role
As an Infectious Disease Nurse, you will provide primary health care services through an expanded nursing role. You will be responsible for managing disease investigations, contact tracing and follow-up activities for Yukon's Reportable Disease List, including COVID-19, sexually transmitted infections, reportable blood-borne diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, enteric and zoonotic diseases, and outbreak management.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide physical and risk assessments relating to infectious disease, including testing and counseling, interpretation of test results, diagnosis, treatment, case management, immunization, outbreak response, and referrals.
- Manage disease investigations, contact tracing, and follow-up activities for Yukon's Reportable Disease List.
- Provide guidance and support to other healthcare providers in Yukon in the management of reportable communicable diseases.
- Foster an environment in which communities, families, and individuals can achieve and maintain optimal health through the provision of accurate and timely health information, health education/promotion, disease prevention, and treatment services.
