Job Title: Central Services Superintendent of Business

Living Sky School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Central Services Superintendent of Business to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position that will commence on November 4th, 2024 (or another mutually agreed upon date).

About Us

Living Sky School Division is a progressive and innovative school division that employs over 800 professional and support staff. We offer a wide variety of programs and services to approximately 5,500 students across 28 schools in 19 communities throughout west central Saskatchewan.

Job Summary

The Central Services Superintendent of Business will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the financial strategy of the organization. This includes long-term financial planning, forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies. The successful candidate will also provide high-level oversight of functions performed by staff in the management of financial and capital assets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leading System Growth and Change
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the financial strategy of the organization.
  • Advance priorities included in the financial area of a balanced scorecard approach to strategic planning.
Developing and Supporting Leaders
  • Provide high-level oversight of functions performed by staff in the management of financial and capital assets.
  • Work with budget holders (at Central Services and in schools) to understand the risks, rewards, and processes in leveraging financial and capital assets to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Provide professional development and training as required.
Ensuring Core System Functions are Performing Effectively
  • Oversee and lead the full financial function including budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
  • Ensure that financial systems, policies, and procedures meet the short and long-term needs of the organization.
  • Oversee and lead the preparation and communication of timely and accurate financial statements and KPIs to key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Present key financial information to the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business (accounting or finance major preferred), a master of business administration, or equivalent training and experience. Experience with a school system is an asset.
