SSA Marine is seeking an Assistant Superintendent, Facilities to join our team. This full-time, permanent position is based at our office in North Vancouver and reports to the General Manager.

**The Position**

The Assistant Superintendent, Facilities is responsible for the oversight, management, and safety of the facility assets at Lynnterm. This position with be involved in the strategic planning for building/facility maintenance, scheduling, associated budgets, managing of third-party contractors, and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of workplace's occupants. This position partners with the General Manager of Lynnterm to provide a safe and collaborative approach in ensuring facility assets are maintained and renewed while working within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

Lynnterm facility includes 95-acre site, four (4) vessel berths, Four (4) warehouses, 12km rail track siding, Admin office, Maintenance shop, Gear locker, and associated utilities.

**Responsibilities & Activities**
- Develop, plan, and maintain scheduled and unscheduled preventative and corrective facilities maintenance programs including key performance indicators (KPI) for measuring equipment reliability and long-range performance, to ensure compliance with HSQE, QAM, and ESM policies, regulatory requirements, and budgetary targets as influenced by current Operational activities.
- Manage third party contractors by establishing scope of work, expectations, ensuring compliance, coordinate the agreements, and ensure accurate records are kept.
- Have a thorough understanding of the Collective Agreement/Black Book to be able to provide support, direction, and oversight on various topics such as work refusals, RWF hiring, Foreperson recruitment, discipline and arbitration, workforce requirements, despatch, and the parameters surrounding foreperson rotation.
- Participate in and provide leadership when required in JHSC meetings, Safety Blitz’s, HPP & SOP creation, and ensure the implementation and compliance of company safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Act as an ambassador of change and play a leadership role in creating a respectful environment by implementing the new regulations outlined in the Harassment and Violence Prevention Policy.
- Direct management and oversight of goods and materials used at Lynnterm (as it relates to facilities management), in accordance with QAM and HSQE requirements, budgetary guidelines, and Operational requirements.
- Provide updates regarding maintenance activities and issues, purchasing activities and issues, and supply preventative maintenance service compliance.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Education or experience in marine, rail, warehousing, trade and transportation industries or any related industries.
- A degree in engineering or trade certification preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of modern reliability and maintenance best practices of port terminal business, including IT-based enterprise asset management systems (EAM).
- Comprehensive hands-on experience in managing the engineering, procurement, maintenance, and repair areas of a port terminal facility.
- Broad understanding of terminal handling equipment and stevedoring gear.
- Sound interpretation of Collective Agreements.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels and functional areas of the organization, fostering trust and integrity.
- Strong business acumen and bottom-line orientation as it relates to decision-making that impacts the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to grow positive relationships both with and among team members, while motivating, developing, and encouraging staff to positively contribute to business goals and objectives.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
