The Art Director will report directly to the Vice-President of Ideation, with the primary responsibility of conveying a clear artistic vision across various creative disciplines while ensuring alignment with project goals and aspirations. This role requires a proven ability to express artistic strategies within a collaborative environment, pushing the boundaries of game development.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish the visual identity of products;
- Create and implement visual style guides (including moodboards and design references);
- Work closely with creative, technical, and production teams to meet essential project milestones;
- Assess and plan the requirements of the art department, prioritizing product quality;
- Engage in the artistic recruitment process;
- Balance technical and artistic needs effectively;
- Oversee and guide artistic teams;
- Provide artistic leadership to realize the overall vision of projects;
- Mentor members of the artistic team;
- Adhere to confidentiality and IT security policies regarding shared resources;
- Perform any other related duties as required.
- Over 5 years of leadership experience in art direction for mid-tier and high-end games;
- A minimum of 10 years' experience within the video game sector;
- Comprehensive knowledge of all artistic disciplines, including concept art, character design, animation, environment art, visual effects, user interface design, lighting, shading, and rendering;
- Innovative mindset with a strong grasp of the creative process;
- A portfolio showcasing both personal and professional artistic accomplishments;
- Experience in developing original intellectual properties for video games;
- Familiarity with game engines;
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to visualize and articulate ideas;
- Capability to contribute directly to artistic creation with tangible examples;
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
