Job Title: Therapeutic Assistant

Join our team at Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, a 148-bed accredited not-for-profit nursing home, as we seek a permanent, part-time Therapeutic Assistant to support our residents in achieving their optimal well-being.

Job Summary

The Therapeutic Assistant will work under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Coordinator to provide one-to-one support to residents, helping them to achieve specific goals identified in their interdisciplinary care plan.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the resident care team to provide services that enhance leisure functioning and promote resident well-being.
  • Document resident activity on the electronic health record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving resident care and services.
  • Implement resident care team initiatives as identified in the strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, or in the process of completing degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy.
  • Experience working with the elderly population.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.
  • Time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with dementia an asset.
  • Flexibility and innovation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
