Disability Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health concerns, autism, and/or trauma to live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities- Support individuals to develop, work towards, and achieve personal goals
- Ensure individuals' basic needs are met, including hygiene, personal care, life skills, and social/occupational skills
- Assist with household chores, meal preparation, and cleaning
- Drive individuals to appointments, grocery shopping, recreational activities, and community events
- Support and supervise clients' behavioral, emotional, and social needs/development
- Provide immediate support in crisis situations
- Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of Individualized Support Plans (ISPs) and program-specific policies and procedures
- Connect individuals with their family, friends, and community
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage behaviors and prevent violent or destructive behaviors
- Administer medication and provide first aid when necessary
- Grade 12 or diploma/degree in Disabilities Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, LPN, Healthcare Aide, Nursing, or related field
- 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health concerns, autism, and/or trauma
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clear driving abstract and reliable vehicle
- Positive attitude and commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently
- Skills in assisting individuals with anger management, daily living, self-help, and other areas
