Position Overview: As a Measurement Technologist, you will play a crucial role in meeting the evolving demands of modern metering and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). Your expertise will support various technical aspects, including existing and emerging meter technologies, customer applications, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee intricate metering installations for high-volume clients and specialized applications, such as effluent and irrigation meters.
  • Collaborate with clients and their consultants to devise and validate effective solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, addressing all metering-related inquiries.
  • Provide a solid technical foundation for the section.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and practices, assessing their applicability within the City.
  • Research and evaluate manufacturers and suppliers, conducting product assessments to identify suitable innovations for various customer applications.
  • Continuously monitor and revise program guidelines to align with technological advancements and policy updates.
  • Ensure construction specifications, drawings, and bylaws are current and reflect the latest industry practices.
  • Identify and manage projects aimed at the sustainability and enhancement of the Meter section.

Qualifications:

  • A completed two-year technical diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology, with a preference for Instrumentation.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the municipal utility sector or a related field.
  • Possession of an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams is essential.
  • Certification in a recognized quality assurance program is advantageous.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with provincial or federal metering regulatory bodies is beneficial.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are critical for success in this role.

Working Conditions: This position is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits that require personal protective equipment (PPE).
