Experienced Game Production Manager

Phoenix Labs is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Game Producer to join our dynamic Vancouver studio. In this pivotal role, the individual will oversee the production discipline team and take charge of the planning and execution phases of our game development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Production to guide and support a diverse development team consisting of software engineers, designers, and artists.
  • Take full responsibility for all production-related elements of the game team, including staffing decisions, organizational structure, team performance, budget management, scheduling, quality assurance, and project tracking.
  • Maintain strategic oversight of GaaS/live services initiatives that cater to millions of players globally.
  • Serve as the Head of Delivery within an Agile framework, facilitating essential team rituals such as daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Foster strong relationships across Phoenix Labs studios, as well as with external partners and the gaming community.
  • Proactively manage and mitigate risks, drive project estimations, monitor progress, and lead the resolution of challenges as they arise.
  • Support the professional growth and development of team members, ensuring they are empowered to perform at their best.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of production experience in AAA game development.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience within the AAA game industry.
  • Experience in shipping a multi-platform game title, with comprehensive production experience across multiple features.
  • Proven ability to guide a game's production through various development stages.
  • Experience in scaling and managing cross-functional development teams from initial stages through to larger production and live service phases.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of aligning diverse groups.
  • Comfortable in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, promoting a culture of transparency and cooperation.
  • Strategic mindset with expertise in various project management methodologies, adept at applying the right approach to achieve effective results.
  • Strong foundational project management skills, with the ability to mentor others in planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and budgeting.
  • Skilled in preparing contingency plans to address potential issues before they arise.
  • Extensive experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, with relevant certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in shipping at least one live service game in a leadership capacity, with familiarity in managing ongoing game services and updates.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Confluence, Jira, Google Suite, and Slack.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine and Perforce.
