Director, Financial Investigations and Governance

Scotiabank is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director to lead our Canadian Financial Investigations and Governance team. As a key member of our Financial Intelligence Unit, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our AML and regulatory compliance strategies.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement AML and regulatory compliance strategies to ensure Scotiabank's compliance with governing regulations and internal policies.
- Lead and manage a team of investigators and analysts to conduct thorough and timely investigations of suspicious transactions and ensure effective actions and resolutions.
- Collaborate with Global AML, Operations, and other FIUs to administer the Bank's AML Program and mitigate risk efforts.
- Provide guidance and support to business lines on AML/ATF associated risk mitigation activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with business leaders to support enterprise objectives and influence key stakeholders.
- Oversee and manage proper remediation efforts and corrective actions.
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 7 years experience in AML, Compliance, Audit, and/or Change Management capacity in a major financial institution.
- Extensive knowledge of significant and relevant AML laws and regulations.
- Strong investigative skills and understanding of complex or unusual financial transactions.
- Proven ability to use excellent judgment and solid leadership.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Prior experience, organizational knowledge, and leadership skills within a large/global team.
