We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Programmer Analyst to join our team at the University of Regina. As a key member of our Information Services department, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing new data integrations, enterprise data exchange solutions, and custom software that meet the needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, deploy, secure, and maintain custom data integration processes and supporting strategies that enable the exchange of data across dissimilar enterprise systems and data sources.
- Design, develop, and deploy custom software applications that meet the needs of our clients.
- Develop and maintain the data architecture used in the development and maintenance of various institutional reporting systems.
- Collaborate with institutional stakeholders, subject matter experts, project managers, and team leads to clearly define technical requirements and expected business outcomes.
- Create, develop, and design network architectures, asynchronous messaging architectures, and rule-based systems for automated data exchange.
- Design, develop, and deploy processes to verify data configuration and maintain architectural integrity.
- Analyze custom applications, commercial software, and underlying data sources to provide recommendations and strategies.
- Collaborate with IS colleagues responsible for infrastructure support, networking, data storage, security, archive, and deployment.
- Review, analyze, and prioritize change requests with the ADS manager, team leads, and project management team.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members to improve their design skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Create and update documentation within the knowledge repository.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a recognized equivalent.
- Have at least 6 years of directly related experience.
- Combine education and experience may be considered.
- Have in-depth knowledge of Oracle and other relational databases.
- Have in-depth knowledge of API design, implementation, and architecture.
- Be proficient in programming languages such as Java, C++, COBOL, Python, JavaScript, or Pro*C.
- Have knowledge of scripting languages such as BASH shell, PERL, or PHP.
- Have a solid understanding of web development.
- Have knowledge of programming languages and development life cycles like Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall.
- Have a thorough understanding of application security and development methodologies.
- Have experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Have effective interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
