Position Overview:

LGM Financial Services is a prominent provider of warranty, finance, and insurance solutions tailored for the Canadian automotive sector. We have established a strong reputation since our inception in 1998, partnering with over 1,200 franchised new car dealerships across Canada. Our collaborations are further strengthened by the support of leading automotive brands.

We are currently seeking a dedicated CPA student to fulfill the role of Accountant. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Accountant will undertake a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and inspire the Accounts Payable team to meet departmental objectives and deliver exceptional results. Provide expert advice and assistance in resolving complex issues and escalated concerns.
  • Oversee and review the payment preparation process, including checks, electronic funds transfers, and ACH transactions, ensuring secure and timely processing.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors to address billing discrepancies, establish effective communication channels, and manage inquiries regarding payment statuses or outstanding invoices.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process by reconciling accounts payable ledgers and preparing accruals for any outstanding liabilities.
  • Continuously assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounts payable procedures. Implement best practices to optimize workflows and minimize manual tasks.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Procurement and Finance, to ensure smooth coordination in the procure-to-pay process and resolve any interdepartmental challenges.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc journal entries to support the financial reporting framework.
  • Maintain and update balance sheet continuity and lead schedules.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining account reconciliations, including addressing any outstanding items.
  • Generate and modify reports using reporting software as needed.
  • Support the upkeep of the chart of accounts within the accounting software.
  • Participate in training initiatives for backup coverage of essential tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist with interim and annual audit processes.
  • Contribute to projects and other finance-related tasks as required.
  • Engage in new system implementations and future upgrades of software, systems, and processes.

Required Skills:

  • Highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Quick adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in CPA or an equivalent program.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance setting.
