Position Overview:

LGM Financial Services is a prominent provider of warranty, finance, and insurance solutions tailored for the Canadian automotive sector. With a legacy of excellence since 1998, we have been delivering top-notch products and training to over 1,200 franchised new car dealerships across Canada. Our partnerships with leading automotive brands ensure robust support and quality service.

We are currently seeking a dedicated CPA student to fill the role of Accountant. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Accountant will play a vital role in the financial operations of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the Accounts Payable team to meet departmental objectives and produce exceptional results. Provide mentorship and assistance in resolving complex challenges and escalated issues.
  • Oversee and verify the processing of payments, including checks, electronic funds transfers, and ACH transactions, ensuring security and timeliness.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors to address billing discrepancies, foster effective communication, and manage inquiries regarding payment statuses or outstanding invoices.
  • Assist in the month-end closing activities, including reconciling accounts payable ledgers and preparing accruals for pending liabilities.
  • Continuously assess and improve the efficiency of accounts payable processes, implementing best practices to optimize workflows and minimize manual tasks.
  • Collaborate with various departments, such as Procurement and Finance, to ensure smooth coordination in the procure-to-pay cycle and resolve interdepartmental issues.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc journal entries to facilitate the financial reporting process.
  • Maintain and update balance sheet continuity and lead schedules.
  • Conduct account reconciliations, ensuring the resolution of outstanding items.
  • Generate and modify reports using reporting software.
  • Support the upkeep of the chart of accounts within the accounting software.
  • Participate in training for backup coverage of essential tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist in the interim and annual audit processes.
  • Contribute to projects and other finance-related tasks as needed.
  • Engage in new system implementations and future upgrades in software, systems, and processes.

Required Skills:

  • Highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Quick adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in CPA or an equivalent program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in an accounting or finance role.
