Position Overview:

The Educational Program Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students and enhancing their learning experiences. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a positive environment for students.

Work Schedule:

Daily Start Time: 08:45 AM
Daily End Time: 02:51 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in daily educational activities and support students in their learning journey.
  • Engage in light lifting tasks (up to 20 pounds) as required.
  • Participate in training related to:
    • Toileting and personal care.
    • Utilization of assistive technology.
    • Behavior management strategies, including the implementation and monitoring of behavior targets.
    • Medical-related procedures as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification (proof of registration in an upcoming course may be accepted).
  • Experience working with individuals with Down's Syndrome and Autism is considered an asset.
  • A diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement, is preferred.

The Educational Program Assistant is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 5047 (CUPE). For further details regarding the collective agreement, please refer to the appropriate resources.

Compensation:

This position operates on a 10-month schedule aligned with the academic calendar, allowing for breaks during holiday periods. The starting annual salary for a full-time position is $35,817.70, inclusive of 4% vacation pay, with potential for annual step increases based on the collective agreement.

Work Hours:

  • 50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break).
  • 80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks).
  • 100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks).
