Job Title: Relief Baker-Breakfast/Chef

We are seeking a skilled Relief Baker-Breakfast/Chef to join our team at Horizon North/Outland. This is a unique opportunity to work in a world-class Outland camp facility, with a 28 days on and 14 days off rotation.

Job Summary:

The Relief Baker-Breakfast/Chef will provide relief coverage for the Chef and Baker/Breakfast, ensuring that all meals are prepared and served to the highest standards. This role requires a strong culinary background, with experience in hot kitchens, cold kitchens, pastry/bakery, butchery, and banquets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide relief coverage for the Chef and Baker/Breakfast
  • Prepare and cook all main meals according to client requirements
  • Ensure food costs are controlled and groceries are utilized effectively
  • Supervise staff in the Chef's absence and provide mentorship and training to new staff
  • Stock and inventory groceries and supplies
  • Assist with special dietary requests and ensure paperwork and inventories are accurately completed
  • Perform administrative tasks in the Chef's absence
Requirements:
  • Red Seal Certification required
  • Criminal Record Check required
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety certification required
  • 5 years of cooking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment preferred
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Sysco, Outlook)
  • Excellent practical and theoretical background in all areas of the kitchen
