About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Programmer Analyst and Administrator to join our team at the University of Toronto. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of our IT systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and document secure, responsive, and accessible applications and underlying web services and databases.
  • Supervise the work and mentorship of desktop and network support staff to ensure continued support for desktop and network services.
  • Update and maintain the VPSEM databases, networks, and systems.
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support IT systems and processes.
  • Produce downloads and reports, handle requests for production of reports, and prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation for IT systems, data transfers, downloads, reports, and processes.
  • Conduct training sessions for user personnel and research and resolve computer problems related to operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in information technology work, preferably in an enrolment working environment at a university or post-secondary institution.
  • Experience in hardware and software support, local area networks, active directory and domain administration, relational database systems, and website development.
  • Extensive experience with specific tools, technologies, and languages, including Windows, Linux, PHP, JavaScript, Java, Oracle, PowerShell, HTML5, CSS, and XML programming.
  • Superior organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, a quick learner with a strong service orientation and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, takes initiative, works well under pressure, meets strict deadlines, and makes sound judgments.
  • Demonstrates tact and patience in dealing with administrative and academic staff as well as with students.
Assets
  • Programming experience with Java, Oracle, Apache Tomcat, Docker, and Linux would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with the ROSI interface, its underlying data architecture, paradigms, methodologies, and data-access tools would be an asset.
