About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Programmer Analyst to join our team at the University of Toronto. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, responsive, and accessible applications and underlying web services and databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzing and recommending complex software architecture
  • Developing and updating architectural frameworks for university-wide applications
  • Analyzing and making recommendations for programming enhancements
  • Updating and maintaining systems, databases, and networks as the primary administrator
  • Advising on cost, feasibility, and impact of different implementation solutions
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Leading and planning IT projects
  • Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in information technology work, preferably in an enrolment working environment at a university or post-secondary institution
  • Experience in hardware and software support, local area networks, active directory, and domain administration
  • Experience with relational database systems, especially SQL Server, MariaDB, and Oracle DB
  • Experience with website development, including Windows 11 & 10, Windows Server, Linux, PHP, JavaScript, Java, and Java EE
  • Excellent organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills, and excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, a quick learner with a strong service orientation and impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Takes initiative, works well under pressure, meets strict deadlines, and makes sound judgments
Assets
  • Programming experience with Java, Oracle, Apache Tomcat, Docker, and Linux would be an asset
  • Familiarity with the ROSI interface, its underlying data architecture, paradigms, methodologies, and data-access tools would be an asset
